Abstract

The article analyses the specifics of the image of the comic for different peoples. It is associated with the view of the world by different ethnic groups. The analysis of the national features of the comic is connected with social issues. In humour, the national character is manifested, reflecting the historical experience of the people. The socio-historical, moral and aesthetic assessment of the people and the life phenomena are preserved in the figurative basis of phraseological units, and traits of the national character are manifested in them. The assessment can be associated with the appearance of a person, with their gestures, with traits of their character and with mental abilities, with objects and phenomena of the surrounding reality, etc. Observations on phraseological units of this group led to the following conclusions: 1. Most phraseological units coincide in the Russian and the Bulgarian languages at the level of the expressed idea but differ in the figurative basis. 2. The figurative basis of the Bulgarian expressions is almost always very specific. The Russian ones are more generalized. Therefore, the translation of phraseological units of this group requires a word-for-word transfer of the figurative basis in order to better semantise and use them correctly.

Extended abstract:

This article analyses the specifics of the image of the comic, associated with the vision of the world by different ethnic groups, for the Russian and the Bulgarian peoples in their two different languages. The analysis of the national features of the comic is connected with social issues. The national character, reflecting the historical experience of the people, is manifested in humour. Phraseological units associated with humour refer to phraseological units of behavior. The purpose of this article is to show the nature of the expression and perception of the comic of two closely related Slavic peoples, the Russians and the Bulgarians. The specifics of assessing the surrounding reality, and the way to see the comic in everyday life, is encoded in the figurative basis of the stable units. On the figurative basis of phraseological units, the socio-historical, moral and aesthetic assessment of people and life phenomena are preserved, and national character traits are manifested in them. The assessment can be associated with the appearance of a person, with their behavior, gestures, with character traits and mental abilities, with objects and phenomena of the surrounding reality, etc. The stable units, associated with the comic in the Bulgarian and the Russian languages, have not yet been analysed. Comparing the two phraseological corpora makes it possible to highlight both common coincidences and differences in the vision of peoples and in the way to sometimes combine the incompatible in bright language units. In the Bulgarian phraseological corpus there are also elements of the vision of the neighboring Balkan peoples. In the formation of the national specifics of phraseological units, associated with the comic, the semiotic connection between the plan of expressing the phraseological unit and the plan of its content plays an important role. It is in this connection that the originality of the ethnic expression of the languages and the mentality of the peoples are fixed. The comparison of stable units has been carried out in a synchronous-semantic plan. The illustrative material considered has shown a rather large cultural and connotative differential. Observations on the phraseological corpus of the Russian and the Bulgarian languages of this thematic group of the group have led to the following conclusions:

Most phraseological units coincide with Russian and Bulgarian at the level of the expressed idea considered, but differ on the figurative basis; The figurative basis of the Bulgarian expressions is almost always very specific, and the Russian ones are more generalized; they have a more abstract character, and therefore, the translation of phraseological units of this group requires the word-by-word transfer of the figurative basis in order to better semantics and use them correctly.
