This article presents the development of a model for transforming educational activity in teaching Russian as a foreign language within a digital cartographic environment. Using the Creative Maps Studio web application as a case study, the paper analyzes structural changes in lesson organization, types of learning tasks, and the distribution of roles among participants in the educational process. Four components of transformation are identified: organizational, activity-based, cognitive, and communicative. It is demonstrated that the digital cartographic environment functions not as an auxiliary tool, but as a factor reshaping pedagogical logic, enabling a shift from a linear lesson model to a component-based, project-oriented approach; from reproductive activity to knowledge construction; from text-centered perception to multimodal information processing; and from vertical communication to digital collaboration. The study substantiates the development not only of learners’ linguistic competence but also of meta-competencies, including digital literacy, project thinking, and teamwork skills. The proposed model aligns with current trends in the digital transformation of higher education and can be adapted to a wide range of disciplines within the humanities.
